Datuk Hisham Hamdan was appointed as Director of Malaysia Airports on 26 February 2025. He brings over three decades of leadership experience across capital markets, corporate strategy, investment management, and business development, with broad exposure in both domestic and international markets.
He is currently Chief Investment Officer of Khazanah Nasional Berhad (“Khazanah”), where he leads the strategy and performance of the Investments Division. He also serves as Chairman of UEM Group Berhad, UEM Sunrise Berhad, Bandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Jelawang Capital Sdn Bhd, and Malaysia Venture Capital Management Berhad. His other board roles include Gateway Development Alliance Sdn Bhd, Dendana Investments (Mauritius) Limited, Mount Hatton Investments Limited, and Khazanah India Advisors Private Limited. He is also a Trustee of the Khazanah Research Institute and a Council Member of the Institutional Investors Council Malaysia.
Datuk Hisham began his career in capital markets, spending 12 years in equity research and investment banking with international investment banks. In 2004, he joined Sime Darby Berhad, where he held senior roles in strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and business development, with a focus on healthcare, energy and utilities, and the China market.
He joined Khazanah in 2011, where he oversaw portfolios in the automotive, agrifood, and Iskandar Malaysia sectors before assuming senior leadership roles including Executive Director of Research and Investments, and Head of Public Markets. In 2019, he was appointed Chief Investment Officer.
He has also held board and leadership positions with organisations such as UDA Holdings Berhad, BBCC Development Sdn Bhd, Iskandar Investment Berhad, and ValueCap Sdn Bhd.
Datuk Hisham holds a Double Degree in Chemical Engineering and Industrial Management from Purdue University, USA, and has completed the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School, USA.
