KUCHING - We have been informed by Gabungan Teksi Kuching that there is a strike by taxi drivers at Kuching International Airport today. According to information received from the association, the strike is to protest the ride hailing services by Uber and Grab at the airport. While the strike is not held at the airport, there is a disruption to all taxi services to and from the airport.

Kuching International Airport Senior Manager Mohd Nadzim Hashim said, "We have been in communication with the local authorities, the airport taxi operator and the association on this matter as it presents a great inconvenience to our passengers. The association has informed us that taxi service will resume at 6 pm today. Meanwhile, I would like to advise passengers to make alternative land transport arrangements in getting to and from the airport."

Nadzim also said that airport operations and airline schedules are not affected by the incident.  “Passengers at the airport can request for assistance from staff on the ground if they require information on alternative transportation,” he added further.
