SEPANG – Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (Malaysia Airports) has been directed by the Ministry of Transport (MOT) to transfer all operations of low cost airlines and services from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1, KKIA. The transfer which allows for 1 month transition period shall take effect by 1 November 2015.

During the launch of Terminal 1 on 16 September 2015 by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak, it was announced that the terminal which cost RM1.7 billion has the capacity to accommodate 9 million passengers. On top of the better facilities available at Terminal 1, Malaysia Airports has pledged RM10 million to Sabah Tourism as a commitment to support the development of the tourism industry in Sabah.

Malaysia Airports has communicated to relevant airlines (AirAsia Berhad, Indonesia AirAsia and AirAsia Zest) and related government agencies such as the Royal Malaysian Customs and the Immigration Department on the directive received from MOT.

All government agencies providing services at Terminal 2 will cease their operations and services at Terminal 2 effective 1 November 2015.

Malaysia Airports will be working closely with the airlines and related stakeholders to facilitate the move and ensure smooth transition to Terminal 1, KKIA.
