SUBANG – Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (Malaysia Airports) is proud to be the main sponsor of the Malaysia Super6 Schools Rugby 2016 once again for its third edition since 2013.

The announcement was made by Shahrizin Shaharudin, Tournament Director of Super Six School Rugby Fifteens, and Muhamad Khair Mirza, Senior General Manager of Malaysia Airports and also the president of Malaysia Airports’ sports club, KESUMA in a press conference this morning.

Commented on Malaysia Airports involvements in this tournament, Khair Mirza said, “This is one of the CSR initiatives by Malaysia Airports apart from our flagship programme, Malaysia Airports Beyond Borders school adoption programme and other continuous community support through zakat and donation – providing support for community enrichment programme. The nature of the rugby game is closely relates to how we operate our business – we embrace the challenges through teamwork and hardship while we breed champions for the future. What makes Super6 Schools Rugby tournament different than any other sports tournaments is because it is designed and programmed to be sustainable – where only the best schools with proper rugby programme are selected.”

Introduced in 2013, the Super6 Schools Rugby is an annual rugby tournament played amongst the best rugby playing schools in Malaysia - Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK), Sek Tuanku Abd Rahman Ipoh, Sek Dato Abd Razak Seremban, Sek Sultan Alam Shah Putrajaya, Sek Men Sains Selangor and Sek Men Sains Hulu Selangor.

Malaysia Super6 Schools Rugby is a 15-a-side game with round robin league format followed by a Cup championship, Plate and Bowl playoffs. Super6 Schools Rugby 2016 will host the first night game in the history of Malaysian rugby for its final game which will be held at the UIA Stadium for the Cup playoff between the Cup finalist, Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman (STAR) and Sekolah Menengah Sains Selangor (SMSS).

The Cup winner will bring home the Malaysia Airports Chairman’s Challenge Trophy and a sum of RM6,000. Super Six Schools Rugby is currently supported by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sports and Malaysian Rugby Union
