KOTA KINABALU – Malaysia Airports has launched a nationwide Connect & Collaborate Vendor Roadshow, beginning this week in Kota Kinabalu, to cultivate a stronger and more competitive vendor ecosystem across the country. This strategic initiative will be extended to key cities including Kota Bharu, Kuala Lumpur, Pulau Pinang, and Kuching in the coming months, as the company seeks to engage local businesses to participate in the growth and transformation of its network of airports.
As part of its strategic transformation to enhance operational performance and service delivery, Malaysia Airports continues to invest significantly in maintenance, technical services, and system development across 39 airports, including five international gateways. These efforts underscore the critical role of a robust vendor ecosystem in supporting airport operations and infrastructure modernisation nationwide.
Through this initiative, Malaysia Airports aims to broaden its pool of qualified vendors, with particular focus on encouraging participation from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to large Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) G7 Contractors; and suppliers with diverse capabilities to meet evolving operational needs.
The roadshow is designed to provide potential vendors with practical insights into business opportunities with Malaysia Airports. It will also offer clarity on procurement processes, vendor registration, technical requirements, and the use of the company’s e-procurement platforms. Dedicated support channels will also be introduced to assist vendors, particularly SMEs, in navigating requirements and compliance standards.
In line with its transformation agenda, Malaysia Airports is adopting a more holistic, value-based vendor evaluation approach. Evaluation criteria will give equal importance to integrity, performance quality, sustainability, technological innovation, problem-solving capability, and long-term growth potential.
This approach ensures that vendors are not only competitive but also aligned with Malaysia Airports’ broader objectives, from enhancing passenger experience and operational resilience to contributing to national economic development. The roadshow, organised in collaboration with CIDB, also facilitates early-stage engagement with the airport operator’s leadership and technical teams, helping vendors better understand operational contexts and strategic priorities.
Each roadshow session is structured into two parts: a morning briefing session covering procurement and partnership opportunities, followed by a site visit to the airport in the afternoon. This format allows vendors to connect directly with key decision-makers while also gaining firsthand understanding of airport operations and infrastructure needs.
Vendors interested in participating are encouraged to stay informed via Malaysia Airports’ official social media platforms for upcoming dates and locations.
