SEPANG – KL International Airport’s (KLIA) Aerotrain system has resumed 24-hour operations following the successful completion of scheduled overnight maintenance works carried out from 18 to 31 August 2025. The two-week programme, conducted during non-peak hours between 12:00 AM and 5:00 AM daily, was completed on schedule with no interruptions to passenger connectivity.
During the maintenance period, seamless travel between the Main Terminal Building and the Satellite Building was ensured through the use of airside shuttle buses. As announced earlier, the works were undertaken to fine-tune system responsiveness and reliability based on operational data gathered since the Aerotrain’s launch on 1 July 2025.
Alstom, the Aerotrain's contractor also conducted testing of its signalling software update during the planned maintenance period. The tests were completed successfully, reinforcing the system’s ability to deliver safe and efficient service.
Malaysia Airports Managing Director, Dato’ Mohd Izani Ghani, said, “The Aerotrain is a vital link in KLIA’s operations, and we are committed to keeping it reliable for our passengers. The completion of these scheduled works reflects our focus on service excellence and ensuring a smooth travel experience at the airport. We will continue to invest in infrastructure that delivers greater reliability, safety, and comfort for all travellers.”
