SEPANG - The Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (ISGIA) recorded a total of 544 air traffic movements and 76,367 passenger traffic movements on 24 December 2015.  All flight arrivals and departures were running as per schedule with no cancellations. The number of passengers moving through ISGIA was at normal volume with 27,308 domestic and 49,059 international passenger movements recorded for the full day on 24 December.

ISGIA had resumed normal operations at 4.00 am 23 December, two hours after the explosion incident. This was possible as the damage to the airport infrastructure was minimal and did not affect any of the 78 aircraft parking positions, including remote, at ISGIA. The safety and security of the airport perimeters were also immediately assessed and cleared by the Turkish authorities for operations to resume in the quickest time possible following the incident. The security within the airport and surrounding the area remains at a high level in order to ensure public safety.

The Turkish authorities are investigating the incident and Malaysia Airports is awaiting the official report from them. The official communication channel established by the Government of Turkey is the Office of The Governor of Istanbul. Malaysia Airports will make further announcements as more information is released by the Turkish official communication channel in due course.
